My First Fiverr Client: A Messy Start That Taught Me Everything 2.) The 3 Thumbnail Mistakes I’ll Never Make Again
✨ Day 8 – Blog 1: My First Fiverr Client: A Messy Start That Taught Me Everything
I still smile when I think about my very first client on Fiverr. I was so excited. I wanted everything to be perfect. I designed a flashy thumbnail, added lots of effects, and sent it off like, “Here you go! Hope you love it!”
But… the client replied:
“It’s nice, but not really what I had in mind.”
Ouch. 😅
That one sentence changed everything for me. I realized: I was designing for myself, not for them.
Since that day, I’ve built a process:
-
Ask clear questions
-
Understand the client’s content
-
Suggest ideas based on their audience
-
Share drafts for feedback
-
Be open to revisions
Now, when a client says, “This is exactly what I wanted,” I know it’s not luck—it’s listening and improving. That first messy order helped me grow into the designer I am today.
✨ Day 8 – Blog 2: The 3 Thumbnail Mistakes I’ll Never Make Again
Let’s be honest—we all make mistakes when we start designing. And guess what? That’s totally okay! Here are the top 3 mistakes I made early on, and why I’ve sworn never to repeat them.
1. Too Much Text
I thought adding more words meant more information = more clicks. Nope! It just made my thumbnails messy. Now I stick to 3–4 powerful words max, in bold fonts.
2. Ignoring the Video Title
I used to design thumbnails separately from the video title—but they need to work together. Now I always align the message of the thumbnail with the title for stronger click-throughs.
3. No Clear Focal Point
Cluttered thumbnails = lost viewers. I used to add way too many elements. Now, I make sure there’s one clear focus (a face, an object, or text) that catches the eye instantly.
These lessons shaped my design mindset. Every mistake was a step toward mastery.
